    Vow: My Own for Equality

I've never been any good at keeping my mouth shut when a bully is around. Bullies are insecure people who make themselves feel more powerful by making others feel bad. The anti-marriage equality groups are bullies with no logic to their loud crowing.

Anyway, I am glad that there are visionaries out there continuing to put forth breathtaking, postitive, and powerful messages like the video below.

    Understanding Technology

Tor/Forge E-book Titles to Go DRM-Free. This is good news on the dismantling of DRM front. I am not surprised that publisher Tor/Forge are taking this step. They are smart.

I've been telling friends that DRM would begin to see the end this year. I am happy that a publisher I respect so much is taking this step.

If you don't understand DRM aka Digital Rights Managment:

[DRM] is a class of access control technologies that are used by hardware manufacturers, publishers, copyright holders and individuals with the intent to limit the use of digital content and devices after sale. DRM is any technology that inhibits uses of digital content that are not desired or intended by the content provider. DRM also includes specific instances of digital works or devices.

    What's wrong with DRM?

A whole lot. It keeps legitimate consumers from using legitimately purchased e-books, etc from using that legally purchased merchandise from being used on multiple platforms. For example, a consumer purchases an e-book in mobi format-- they can only use that e-book in/or on a system which supports mobi.

Charles Stross explains it better than I can. (via Charlie's Diary)

    Won't this encourage illegal use?

If you think DRM stops illegal activity, you are a moron.

    Time

Time for me to catch up on the alphabet challenge. So, in honor of the letter "T"-- I'll be working through my ridiculously long To Do list and reorganizing my time in order to meet all my deadlines.

The alphabet and the month are coming to a close. May is quick approaching and the one year anniversary of my blog. I am not really sure where the time went. I know it went fast and I've made some amazing friends during this first year of the journey. I am looking forward to more.

    Survey: Rainbow Romance Readers

Rainbow Romance Writers is a chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA). The Rainbow chapter is asking for reader input about LGBT fiction and romance in general:

The Rainbow Romance Writers are trying to get a more coherent picture of the ways people read and acquire romantic fiction, so every response helps us survey the romantic landscape properly. By gathering data about readers of LGBT romance and romance in general, we hope to clarify the broadening appeal and expanding market for folks who love hard numbers and clean statistics, both within the romance community, the media, and retail channels.

If you have a few minutes, please take the survey. Thanks!
